The Birth if Surf: The 1960s and 1970s Documentary Surf Photography of Keroy Grannis

Details: In the early 1960s in Hermosa Beach, California, surfer and amateur photographer Leroy Grannis began documenting the burgeoning surfing scene along the Southern California coast. This exhibition captures surfing’s golden years and the entire surfing lifestyle in California and Hawaii, including the fashions, landscapes and architecture. The exhibition is organized by independent curator Cynthia Mulcahy.
It will be accompanied by a brochure giving you the opportunity to explore Dallas' own "surfing" sites on your own.
Cost: Free and open to the public.

WHAT:
Arts Advocacy Day is an opportunity for everyone interested in the arts and arts
education to learn how to successfully advocate for arts funding and how to
create a greater awareness of the impact of arts and culture on a community.
The featured speaker is Douglas C. Sonntag, Director of Dance, National
Endowment for the Arts
There will be workshops and panel discussions in the morning dealing with
advocacy and public relations techniques. The cost for Advocacy Day is $35
and includes lunch and all workshops.
