The sixth annual CityArts Celebration
presented by TXU Energy
is a free festival in the downtown Dallas
Arts District,  and this year’s edition,
on June 12-14, features
many first-time attractions.

More than 100 visual artists from Texas
and, for the first time, across the nation,
are competing in the  juried Art MarketPlace,
with many talented new musical and dance
performers joining the festivities.

Additional “Discovery Area” activities for kids,
a Shrek movie-viewing in the Nasher
Sculpture Center garden, a free Dallas
Symphony Orchestra concert, and new
culinary and cocktail demonstrations
have also been added.

LOCATION: REVERCHON PARK AND KATY TRAIL.

IFDA Educational Foundation has asked the chapters to raise funds for their
scholarships and grants. The Texas Chapter will participate by walking two miles
of Katy Trail, starting from Reverchon Park (Maple at Turtle Creek). You are invited
to bring friends, children and/or pets to the walk. You may sign up online at:
www.ifdaef.org/designwalk, then click on the Texas Chapter. (If you sign up online,
please bring a copy of the form with you to the walk.) We will also provide paper
forms at the event. Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children or pets.
There will be gift certificates awarded to the top person and pet.

FREE 15th Annual Water-Wise Landscape Tour
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

City of Dallas Water Utilities, City of Dallas Storm water Management,
Texas AgriLife Extension and the Dallas County Master Gardeners are
teaming up with surrounding cities to demonstrate the beauty of
Water-Wise and EarthKind™ gardening with the 15th annual
Water-Wise Landscape Tour.

Dallas County Master Gardeners will be conducting free 15 minute talks
on Water-Wise gardening every hour on the hour at each of the tour
headquarters. Dallas County Master Gardener volunteers will also be
assisting homeowners and helping answer questions about the plants and
landscapes on the tour.

The Birth if Surf: The 1960s and 1970s Documentary

Details: In the early 1960s in Hermosa Beach, California, surfer and
amateur photographer Leroy Grannis began documenting the
burgeoning surfing scene along the Southern California coast.  
This exhibition captures surfing’s golden years and the entire surfing
lifestyle in California and Hawaii, including the fashions, landscapes
and architecture.  The exhibition is organized by independent
curator Cynthia Mulcahy.

It will be accompanied by a brochure giving you the opportunity
to explore Dallas' own "surfing" sites on your own.

Cost: Free and open to the public.
