Michael MALTZAN, FAIA
Architect, Los Angeles
From museums to homeless housing, Michael Maltzan has created an exceptional
practice in ten years. A graduate of RISD, Harvard, and the Gehry office, Maltzan
designed MoMA's temporary home in Queens and has invested his many
commissions with a logic that leads to authentic originality. Among many national
awards, he received the AIA's Young Architect award and has been published and
taught widely.

Alberto KALACH
Architect, Mexico City
A leader of the new and gifted generation of Mexican architects fully engaged in
the global issues of the 21st century. Educated in Mexico and at Cornell, Kalach
and his collaborators have won important international competitions, including
the highly original Vasconcelos Library recently completed. Clearly devoted to the
public realm, Kalach's work is extensively published, including a monograph in
Rockport's Contemporary World Architects series. He is a visiting critic at UT-Arlington.

Mary Ellen Mark to Speak at Richland College

Mark has achieved worldwide visibility through her numerous books, exhibitions
and editorial magazine work. She has published photo-essays and portraits in
publications including LIFE, New York Times Magazine, Rolling Stone, The New
Yorker, and Vanity Fair. For over four decades, she has traveled extensively
to make pictures that reflect a high degree of humanism.

Throughout Mark’s long career she has photographed the dispossessed, stating,
“I'm for the underdog. I certainly feel that it's a land of unequal opportunity. I'm
interested in having people feel for the people I photograph. It's an unfair world."
