| Salon Series @ 7:30 – 9 pm A View From Modern Architecture presented by Kevin Sloan Kevin Sloan is a visiting professor from the UTA School of Architecture is the first in a Salon Series of lectures being held at the historic Turner House to engage pondering and dialog onsubjects that bring global thinking closer to home. This lecture by Sloan will explore two influential buildings of the early twentieth century - Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House in Chicago and the Villa Savoye by LeCorbusier near Paris (shown). When you look at the skyline of Dallas, it makes one realize that modern architecture never went away in commercial design and with the addition of the Dallas Center Performing Arts and the Hunt Consolidated Tower added to the mix, new home developments like Kessler Woods and the preservation of modern classic homes and structures seems very natural in elevating our city to another level by exposing further our rich architectural heritage. Sloan is a Winnetka Heights resident and owns a private practice, Kevin Sloan Studio that designs Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning & Design. $15 non members, $10 members.
