Stay Kool at Kube Hotel, Paris by Christina Gaona On the far side of the Montmatre Hill off a quant un-touristed lane, lays the chic Kube Hotel Paris. This unsuspecting 19th century building located in the city’s 18th arrondissement is the home of one of Paris’ first modern-inspired and designer hotels. Kube Hotel – sister hotel of the famous Murano Hotel – boasts its own unique identity and introduced the first Ice Bar in Paris. According to the hotel’s owners, the design-concept for Kube Hotel pays homage to the cube: “the most modern of shapes.”
The hotel, comprised of three buildings that surround a small cobblestone courtyard, welcomes new patrons with a Louvre inspired glass-cube reception entryway. The bold combination of modern and classic architecture creates an anachronistic – though interesting – visual impression and sets the tone for the hotel’s modern- decadent styling. Past the reception area, lays the hotel’s two-level lounge bar which offers a unique experience for its black lights, fluorescent pink and purple accents and furniture, and dark walls.
The ultra-modern décor is most clearly represented by futuristic furniture pieces and pop art that can be found throughout the hotel. Unlike the color-palette the hotel’s ground level, the rooms feature bright white walls and textiles with pops of color. Each of Kube Hotel’s rooms offers varying interior design accents and hotel room floorplans; visitors can expect features like walls decorated with large, square-shaped Andy Warhol reproductions, rectangular beds suspended by cables, and modern, custom-made baths. Rather than room keys, Kube Hotel’s room security system utilizes fingerprint readers – rendering a visitor’s experience truly unique.
The hotel features the very first ice bar in Paris, the Ice Kube Bar, and offers visitors and locals a one-of-a-kind and intimate social experience. With a maximum capacity of twenty persons, patrons can pay for half-hour sessions in the Ice Kube Bar – the bar offers tastings of four Grey Goose cocktails.
On the mezzanine level over-looking the bar, visitors will find a collection of outfitted Inuit photographs adorning the walls. Below, lays the hexagonal bar constructed completely out of large ice cubes. Grey Goose Vodka is served in glasses made of ice and visitors are welcome to carve their names in the ice walls or retreat to the Ice Bedroom, where one can lay on a ten ton ice bed and snuggle under fur blankets while listening to the varying DJ’d music.

The hotel is located within a twenty minute walk of the famous Parisian Gare du Nord (North Station), the beautiful Sacre Coeur basilica, and other tourist attractions – including the building that once housed Renoir and Picasos’s studio at Bateau Lavoire on the historic Montmarte hill. |
