What hobbies do you have?
On the weekends I like
exploring inner-city
neighborhoods, looking
for cool buildings,and
taking my dog to the
park. I’m addicted to
urban design blogs, live
music, and food that
you can only buy from
street vendors.

Favorite Coffee Shop?
Depends on the part of town I’m in. When I’m north, it’s Astoria in
Addison Circle. When I’m south, it’s Beckley Brewhouse in Oak Cliff.

What do you do in your spare time?
I grill out, spend time with friends, and work on renovation projects.

Favorite Car & Color?
I’m partial to German engineering but would almost sell my soul for a McLaren
F1 (who wouldn’t?) I like shades of blue for most things, but cars should be silver.

If you could meet a celebrity who would it be?
Eddie Izzard

how have the last
5 years been?

I'm not going to sugarcoat it -
it's been hellish the last year
but also very fulfilling
finally being my own boss.
And it is certainly fun
enough to want to
be here for another 5.

I'm a Dallas girl - have to say Neiman's!

When not at the office, where would you like to be?
searching for manta rays / scuba diving anywhere

Favorite sandwich shop?
I do not eat sandwiches very often, but every Thursday
my wife and I go close by the office to Bengal Coast for
lunch…but sorry no sandwiches.

What hobbies do you have?
I spend a lot of time on the
racquetball court and I
love being out in the
country on a long bike
ride. When my wife, Sara,
and I travel, we frequently
try to find a way to get a
long ride in. A couple of
years ago we took a
week long ride from
Prague to Vienna. It is
great way to see the
countryside and visit
the smaller towns. But
above all I am a
student of architecture.
I am all the time looking
at buildings....analyzing,
critiquing, re-designing,
appreciating. It is a huge
part of who I am.

What was your most memorable moment?
I am eternally drawn to the Pantheon in Rome. To me visiting that spot
always has a special significance for me.

My ideal dinner party would include...
Jon Stewart for political analysis, George Will for the opposite point of view,
Steve Martin for some humor, Jenny Holzer (the conceptual artist who I just
imagine to be interesting person).

What was the best concert you ever attended?
This question takes me back to a much earlier era. The memorable concerts
from my college days are Stevie Wonder, The Talking Heads, Frank Zappa
and the one that stands out as a little more special was the time I saw Little
Richard in a small downtown Houston club. We arrived late and were led to
the last available table which was front and center right next to the stage.
Little Richard was literally an arm length away.

What prompted you to develop ArtHouse Homes?
I have always had a passion for architecture and when I graduated Rice
University School of Architecture, I began my career designing residential
projects. I moved into advertising during the real estate down turn of the
80s and after selling my advertising business a few years ago it gave me
the opportunity to return to my passion and start building. I began with the
Art House condominiums on Oak Lawn and then a built a couple of
speculative projects. Since then we have expanded to building custom
homes, but always with a desire to work with talented architects.

My most memorable moment:
Watching the fireworks off the Sydney Harbor
Bridge New Year's Eve 2000.   As a child and
into adulthood, I had always wondered how
my life would be constructed at that specific
juncture in time.   At the stroke of midnight...
I finally got my answer!

If I could meet a celebrity who would it be......
Stephen Hawking.
Give me the answers to the Universe!

The best concert attended
Was the B52's in college. My neck was hurting
for a week after the event.

My favorite sandwich......
Coopers Chopped Beef BBQ Sandwich from
my town Llano, Texas.. yum yum yum. I never
ever miss the chance to get one or two of
them when I go back for a visit!
